About Joanne

A pregnancy & postpartum specialist rooted in sacred and modern wisdom.

I'm Joanne. A postpartum doula based in Berkshire, and a mother of one. My care is shaped by ancestral practice, lived experience, and a deep belief in the sovereignty of every mother.

I came to this work the way many doulas do. Through my own birth. What I needed in that room is what I now offer every family I sit with: a steady presence, refined logistics, and a soul that knows how to hold yours.

Preparing for birth and motherhood is not simply about packing a bag and writing a birth plan. It is about understanding the system you are entering, knowing the questions to ask, and having someone at your side who sees the whole of you. Not just the medical notes. I needed someone who could help me navigate appointments with confidence, hold space for my fears without dismissing them, and remind me that my voice mattered in every decision. That is the support I now bring to every woman I walk beside: practical, emotional, and unwavering. From the first flutter of preparation to the quiet triumph of the fourth trimester and beyond.

My Philosophy

The four threads I weave into every mother's care.

Sacred, not clinical

Birth is a rite of passage. My care brings ceremony, intention, and presence back into a process that has been over-medicalised.

Premium, never performative

Luxury here means undistracted attention, refined logistics, and protected energy. Not gloss for its own sake.

Soul-led, evidence-informed

Intuition guides my presence; current research informs my decisions. Mothers deserve both.

Wholly without judgement

Hospital, home, epidural, unmedicated, formula, breast. I hold every choice with equal care.

Soft postpartum still life

Who this work is for

Centring Black mothers — and welcoming every woman who feels the call.

This practice was built, first and most deliberately, for Black and ethnic-minority mothers — women who have been historically under-listened-to in birth rooms and postpartum wards, and whose outcomes the UK system has yet to honour. That centring is not a marketing line. It shapes how I prepare, advocate, and hold space.

And — every mother who arrives here in good faith is welcome. Solo by choice. Through IVF, adoption or surrogacy. Partnered or unpartnered. Faith-rooted or secular. First-time or fifth. Hospital, home, planned caesarean, unmedicated, formula, breast. Every body, every story, every choice — held without judgement.

What I will not do is dilute the care to make it palatable. What I will do is meet you with steady hands and a steady heart, exactly as you are.
