Frequently Asked

The questions most mothers arrive with.

If yours isn't here, send it through. I answer every email personally.

Are you certified?

+

Yes — I'm a certified doula, trained through a Doula UK approved course. I also hold a CPD qualification in addressing systemic racism in maternity care, alongside lived experience as a mother of one.

Where do you work in person?

+

I'm based in Windsor and serve families across Berkshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and West London — including Maidenhead, Ascot, Bracknell, Reading, Henley-on-Thames, Marlow, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Egham, Staines, Richmond, Kingston, Chiswick and Kensington. Virtual support is available worldwide.

Do you work with NHS births?

+

Absolutely. I support births in NHS hospitals, private hospitals, birth centres, and at home. My role is to complement your clinical team. Never to replace them.

What if my partner wants to be the main support?

+

Beautiful. My role is often to support the partner so they can show up fully for you. Many couples tell me afterwards that doula support deepened their bond.

How many clients do you take on?

+

I limit in-person birth support to three families per quarter so every mother receives premium, undistracted care.

Do you offer payment plans?

+

Yes — interest-free payment plans are available on every package, from single sessions through to Sacred Birth Support. Just mention it in your enquiry and I'll build one into your bespoke proposal.

I'm not in the South East. Can we still work together?

+

Yes. The Virtual Companion Package, Birth Debrief sessions, all single sessions, and the Soul Full Village membership are available worldwide over Zoom.

What does it actually cost to work with you?

+

Standalone sessions begin at £45 for a Clarity Call. Bespoke birth packages are quoted after our intro call. Most families investing in full birth support land between £1,200 and £2,800 depending on hours, on-call window and travel. Interest-free payment plans are available on every package.

Is this only for Black mothers?

+

No. Every mother is welcome. I do hold a particular devotion to Black and brown mothers who have historically been under-served by the system, and that shapes how I show up. If you feel resonant with the work, you belong here.

I'm doing this without a partner. Is that a problem?

+

Quite the opposite. Solo-by-choice, IVF, donor-conceived and adoption journeys are at the heart of who I serve. You don't need a partner to deserve a steady hand and steady hearts beside you.

What's the difference between you and an NHS midwife?

+

A midwife holds the clinical safety of your birth. I hold the emotional, logistical, and ceremonial threads — the questions to ask, the affirmations to remember, the bag that's already packed, the meal that's already in the freezer. We complement, never compete.

When should I book?

+

Most mothers reach out in the second trimester, but I take enquiries at any stage — including in the fourth trimester. If you're past 36 weeks, message anyway; if I have capacity, I will find a way.

How does a free 30 minute intro call work?

+

We meet on Zoom or by phone. You share where you are in your journey and what you're hoping to hold. I listen, ask a few questions, and tell you honestly what I think would serve you. There is no pitch and no pressure — many of my best conversations end with a referral to someone else who is a better fit.

Do you only support first-time mothers?

+

No. I support first, second and subsequent births. Second-time mothers often arrive carrying a birth story from the first that hasn't been heard — and we begin there, not at the new pregnancy.

Can you support a planned caesarean?

+

Yes. Planned caesareans benefit enormously from doula care — the day itself, the recovery hours, the immediate postpartum window, and especially the bonding and feeding initiation that can feel rushed in a busy theatre recovery. I help you design a calm, intentional caesarean.

What if I end up with an unplanned caesarean?

+

I stay with you. My role is unchanged. I hold the partner, I name what is happening, I support the move into theatre, I am there for the immediate postpartum hours and the days that follow. A change in birth route is not a failure — it is a change in route.

Do you attend home births?

+

Yes. I support home births across Berkshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and West London, in collaboration with your NHS home birth team.

Do you work with private maternity hospitals?

+

Yes. I sit comfortably in both NHS and private settings — Chelsea and Westminster, the Kensington Wing, the Lindo Wing, Queen Charlotte's, the Portland — and I bring the same fully-held presence to either.

Where exactly do you serve in person?

+

Windsor is home. I serve in-person across roughly a 40-mile radius — Berkshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and West London, including Maidenhead, Ascot, Bracknell, Wokingham, Reading, Henley-on-Thames, Marlow, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Amersham, High Wycombe, Egham, Staines, Uxbridge, Hillingdon, Hayes, Southall, Ealing, Acton, Richmond, Chiswick and Kensington.

Do you charge travel fees?

+

Travel within roughly 30 miles of Windsor is included. Beyond that, a fair travel contribution is built into your bespoke proposal and discussed openly — never a surprise on the invoice.

What happens if I go into labour outside your on-call window?

+

On-call begins at 38 weeks for full birth packages, and I do everything in my power to be with you. If you birth significantly before 38 weeks, I am honest about geography — and a trusted back-up doula is named in your contract so you are never unheld.

Do you have a back-up doula?

+

Yes. Every full birth package includes a named, vetted back-up doula in case of illness, family emergency, or unavoidable conflict. You meet her before 38 weeks so she is not a stranger if she is called.

How many hours of labour will you stay for?

+

Continuous — meaning I stay from the point we agree active labour has begun, through birth, and through the first one to two postpartum hours. There is no clock running. The point is that you are not alone for any of it.

Will you stay overnight?

+

For full birth support, yes — labour does not respect office hours. For Postpartum Sanctuary Days, my presence is a daytime container of six hours; overnight postpartum care can be arranged separately and is quoted on request.

Do you do night nannying or overnight infant care?

+

Not as a primary service. My work is mother-centred. For dedicated overnight infant care I refer to trusted maternity nurses and night nannies in the network I have built over the years.

Do you offer breastfeeding support?

+

Yes — feeding support is woven into all postpartum sessions. For complex feeding situations I work alongside an IBCLC lactation consultant rather than substituting for one.

What if I want to formula feed?

+

Then we plan a calm, confident formula feeding journey — paced bottle feeding, responsive feeding cues, partner involvement, bottle hygiene and rhythm. Every feeding choice is honoured here.

Do you do birth photography?

+

No — and I would gently steer you toward a dedicated birth photographer if that matters to you. My hands are on you, not on a camera.

Can my partner be the primary support?

+

Beautiful. My role is often to support the partner so they can show up fully for you. Many couples tell me afterwards that doula support deepened their bond rather than displacing it.

I had a traumatic birth last time. Can you help?

+

Yes. The Birth Debrief Sessions are designed precisely for this — two private hours plus two weeks of WhatsApp voice-note companionship. We move gently through what happened, what you felt, and what is still asking to be named. If deeper therapeutic support is indicated, I refer to perinatal therapists in my network.

Is a Birth Debrief the same as therapy?

+

No. A Birth Debrief is a held space to tell your birth story to someone trained to receive it. If trauma symptoms are present — flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, avoidance — a perinatal therapist or birth-trauma specialist is the right next step, and I will refer you with care.

Do you work with IVF and donor-conceived pregnancies?

+

Yes — and with deep respect. IVF, donor and surrogacy journeys often carry complex emotional layers that deserve their own holding. We make room for the whole story, not just the pregnancy.

Do you work with adoption journeys?

+

Yes. The postpartum window after an adoption placement is one of the least supported transitions in this culture. I bring the same held presence to adoptive postpartum as I do to a birth recovery.

Do you work with same-sex parents?

+

Of course. Every family is welcome here.

Are you certified?

+

Yes. I am a certified doula, having completed a Doula UK approved course, and I hold a CPD qualification in addressing systemic racism in maternity care. Alongside formal training, my work is grounded in continued self-led study, ancestral practice, and lived experience as a mother of one.

Are you insured?

+

Yes — I carry full public liability and professional indemnity insurance appropriate to non-clinical doula practice in the UK.

Are you DBS-checked?

+

I take child and family safeguarding seriously. Specifics about checks and policies are shared as part of the onboarding paperwork once you book.

Do you give medical advice?

+

No. I am not a clinician. I will not diagnose, prescribe, or override your midwife or doctor. What I do is help you ask better questions, understand your options, and stay grounded in your own authority.

What if something feels medically wrong during my pregnancy or birth?

+

I will name it, calmly, and make sure you have the right call to make — your midwife, triage, or 999 if the situation requires it. Clinical decisions stay with clinical teams. My role is to make sure you are heard and supported around them.

Do you offer payment plans?

+

Yes — interest-free payment plans are available on every package, from single sessions through to Sacred Birth Support. Mention it in your enquiry and I will build one into your bespoke proposal.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

+

Yes. Sessions and packages can be gifted — see the Gift Vouchers page or mention it in your enquiry. Many families gift Clarity Calls and Postpartum Sanctuary Days to expectant friends.

Do you offer corporate or workplace support?

+

Yes. I work with companies and Employee Resource Groups to support pregnant and postpartum employees — talks, group sessions, and 1:1 support as part of family-friendly benefits. See the Corporate page.

What's the Soul Full Village membership?

+

A private circle of women in similar seasons — weekly gatherings, voice-note support, and the deep relief of being among women who are walking this road on purpose. See the Village page for the full description and joining details.

I'm not in the South East — can we still work together?

+

Yes. The Virtual Companion Package, Birth Debrief Sessions, every standalone session, and the Soul Full Village membership are all available worldwide over Zoom.

How quickly will you reply to my enquiry?

+

Within 48 hours, personally, from me. No automated funnels, no chatbot. If you have not heard from me in that window, please check your spam folder and message again.

What happens after I book?

+

You receive a welcome email with your contract, intake forms, and a calendar link to schedule our first prenatal session. From that moment on, my WhatsApp is open to you for the duration of our work together.

Can I change my mind after booking?

+

Yes. The full cancellation and refund policy lives in your contract, and is fair to both of us. In short: deposits secure your dates and are non-refundable; remaining balances are refundable on a sliding scale up to certain points in the pregnancy.

Will my information stay private?

+

Absolutely. My practice runs quietly by design — small client list, personal email, no public client logs. Anything you share stays between us, in line with UK GDPR. See the Privacy page for the full detail.

Can I bring my mother, sister or close friend to a session?

+

Yes, with notice. Many mothers want their birth partner, mother, or chosen sister present for one of the prenatal sessions. We agree this in advance so the container holds everyone.

Do you work with multiples — twins or more?

+

I support twin pregnancies with great care and in close collaboration with your consultant team. The postpartum window with twins is particularly intense, and the Postpartum Sanctuary Day and Postpartum Recovery Plan are well used here.

What about VBAC — vaginal birth after caesarean?

+

Yes. VBAC is a beautifully supported route in the UK, and I sit with families through the planning, the conversations with your consultant, and the labour itself. Continuity of support is one of the things the evidence base most consistently shows helps VBAC.
