Hospital Guides
What birth here actually looks like.
Grounded, doula-written guides to the maternity hospitals I attend across Berkshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire and West London.
Frimley, Surrey
Frimley Park Hospital
Frimley Park, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, is one of the larger maternity units in the South East and serves families across Surrey, Hampshire and west Berkshire — from Camberley and Farnborough through to Ascot, Bracknell and Sunningdale.
Slough, Berkshire
Wexham Park Hospital
Wexham Park, also part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, is the closest hospital to Windsor and the primary unit for families across Slough, Eton, Datchet, Maidenhead, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and the surrounding South Bucks villages.
Reading, Berkshire
Royal Berkshire Hospital
The Royal Berkshire is the principal maternity unit for Reading, Wokingham, Henley-on-Thames, Theale and the western Berkshire catchment. It offers a full consultant-led delivery suite alongside the Rushey Midwifery-Led Unit for low-risk birth.
Oxford
John Radcliffe Hospital
The John Radcliffe is the main maternity hospital for Oxford and the wider Oxfordshire catchment, and serves some families on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire-Buckinghamshire borders — particularly those choosing it for its specialist services or family ties to the area.
Chelsea, London
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Chelsea and Westminster serves families across Chelsea, Fulham, Kensington, Notting Hill, Hammersmith and the wider West London catchment. The trust runs both NHS maternity care and the private Kensington Wing on site, which is a popular choice for families wanting private maternity care without leaving central London.
Uxbridge, London
Hillingdon Hospital
Hillingdon Hospital is the principal maternity unit for families across the London Borough of Hillingdon — Uxbridge, Hayes, West Drayton, Ruislip — and parts of Ealing and South Bucks. It serves one of the most diverse maternity populations in West London.
High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Wycombe Hospital (Birth Centre)
Wycombe Hospital is home to a well-regarded standalone midwife-led birth centre serving families across High Wycombe, Amersham, Chalfont St Giles, Beaconsfield and the wider Buckinghamshire catchment. Higher-risk or transferred labours move to Stoke Mandeville for consultant-led care.
