Doula support at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust · SW10 9NH
Chelsea and Westminster serves families across Chelsea, Fulham, Kensington, Notting Hill, Hammersmith and the wider West London catchment. The trust runs both NHS maternity care and the private Kensington Wing on site, which is a popular choice for families wanting private maternity care without leaving central London.
What to expect
On the day
NHS care includes a consultant-led labour ward, a midwife-led birth centre, and a home birth team. The Kensington Wing offers private en-suite delivery rooms, named consultant care, and longer postnatal stays. Whichever route you choose, the clinical foundation is the same trust.
My role
How I sit beside you here
For West London births I usually travel in to support your labour at home and continue through transfer and birth. I'm equally at home in NHS and private settings — my role is to hold the human side: pacing, breath, language, advocacy, partner support, and the immediate postpartum hours.
Practical tips
Small things that make a real difference
- 01If you're booked under the Kensington Wing, confirm what's included in your package: postnatal nights, infant-feeding support, paediatric checks.
- 02Central London traffic at peak times can double your transfer time — agree in advance which routes your partner takes.
- 03Skin-to-skin and undisturbed first hour are negotiable in any setting — request them clearly in your preferences.
- 04If you'd like a private postnatal stay after an NHS birth, ask in early third trimester whether transfer is possible on the night.
