Doula support at Hillingdon Hospital
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust · UB8 3NN
Hillingdon Hospital is the principal maternity unit for families across the London Borough of Hillingdon — Uxbridge, Hayes, West Drayton, Ruislip — and parts of Ealing and South Bucks. It serves one of the most diverse maternity populations in West London.
What to expect
On the day
The unit offers a consultant-led labour ward, an alongside midwife-led birth centre with pool rooms, and a home birth team across the borough. Many of the families I sit with here are choosing between Hillingdon, Northwick Park, Ealing and West Middlesex — I help you compare them honestly.
My role
How I sit beside you here
I attend Hillingdon as a continuous, non-clinical companion. My role complements your midwife and protects your voice — particularly important in a unit serving a large and diverse catchment, where shifts are busy and advocacy matters.
Practical tips
Small things that make a real difference
- 01Parking is limited; partners should plan a drop-off and re-park strategy in advance.
- 02Ask about pool availability for your due window — the MLU rooms turn over quickly.
- 03Bring printed birth preferences and a copy for the partner — shift changes can erase verbal context.
- 04If English is a second language for anyone in your birth team, request interpreter support proactively.
