Doula support at Frimley Park Hospital
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust · GU16 7UJ
Frimley Park, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, is one of the larger maternity units in the South East and serves families across Surrey, Hampshire and west Berkshire — from Camberley and Farnborough through to Ascot, Bracknell and Sunningdale.
What to expect
On the day
The unit offers a consultant-led labour ward for higher-risk births alongside a midwife-led birth centre for low-risk labours where birthing pools and active birth are encouraged. The home birth team supports planned home births within their catchment. Triage assessments happen on arrival; partners are welcomed throughout active labour and postnatally, in line with current trust guidance.
My role
How I sit beside you here
I attend Frimley Park as a continuous, non-clinical companion — holding the room, the partner, the questions, the breath. My role complements your midwife, never duplicates her. I sit with you through long latent phases at home, travel with you when it's time, and stay through the immediate postnatal hours so you are softly transitioned, not rushed.
Practical tips
Small things that make a real difference
- 01Parking can be tight overnight — pre-load coins or the RingGo app so your partner isn't fumbling in the early hours.
- 02The midwife-led centre has limited rooms — ask your community midwife about realistic availability for your due date window.
- 03Pack a small bag for your partner too: snacks, phone charger, change of clothes. They're often forgotten in the planning.
- 04Request a debrief appointment if your birth deviated from plan — the trust offers Birth Reflections, and Birth Debrief sessions with me are designed to sit alongside it.
